Beaver Local gives Lowe 200th win

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local volleyball coach Sarah Lowe earned her 200th career win as the Beavers knockedd off Harrison Central 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 on Monday.

For the Beavers (12-1), Brooke Talbot had eight kills, two blocks, 10 assists five digs and seven aces. Grace Hill added 11 kills. Elizabeth Kolkowski had five kills and five blocks. Kodi Kinsey had 17 digs. Leah Riccardo had four digs. Emma Joesph had 17 assists. Bailey Bowersock added seven digs.

“Getting the win on senior night is such a good feeling for me and the team,” senior Lexi Schieber said. “It was just so exciting seeing everyone so happy to be together on the court knowing we were playing as seniors. Playing knowing it was going to be coach Lowe’s 200th win was also a big reason to come out with a win.”

Beaver Local won the jayvee match, 25-6, 25-18. For the Beavers, Shaylon Mackall had two kills, three aces and five assists. Addy Hurst had four kills, three digs and a block. Peyton Roberts had three kills and two digs.

Beaver Local hosts Brooke today.

Crestview 3, Brookfield 1

BROOKFIELD –Crestview’s volleyball team is closing in on a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division title after a 25-18, 25-14, 19-25, 25-14 win over Brookfield on Monday.

The Rebels, ranked seventh in the state in Div. III in the state coaches poll, are 16-0 and 10-0 in the league.

Only Garfield at 9-1 in the league has the potential to challenge the Rebels in the coming weeks.

For the Rebels, Grace Auer had 12 kills, 18 assists and 16 digs. Lucy Montgomery added 13 kills, 16 assists and two blocks. Shelby Rambo added nine kills. Abbey Finch had nine kills, four blocks and four aces. Kendra Greaves had five assists and 16 digs. Hannah Cope had nine digs.

Crestview won the jayvee match 25-12, 25-12 to improve to 16-0. Madalyn Black had six kills. Madison Davis added three aces and two kills.

The Rebel jayvee and varsity are at Newton Falls today.

Crestview’s freshmen team beat Austintown Fitch 25-17, 25-14 on Monday.

Aubrey Unkefer had 14 points, five aces and five kills for the winner. Alli Howell added six points, 10 assists and three kills.

Lisbon 3, Malvern 1

LISBON — Lisbon defeated Malvern 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16 on Monday.

Lisbon (4-9) was led by Eliza Baker’s 10 points, six aces, 14 kills and 14 digs. Mya Emmerling had 15 points, two kills and two blocks. Brooklyn Cousins had 26 assists.

Lisbon won the jayvee match, 25-11, 25-22. Izzy Lannon and Olivia May had nine points each.

Lisbon is at East Palestine today.

Wellsville 3, Heartland 0

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville’s volleyball team thumped Heartland 25-6, 25-9, 25-11 on Monday.

The Tigers moved to 13-0 and are ranked 13th in the Div. IV state coaches poll.

For the Tigers, Presley Stokes had 15 kills and an ace. Paige Green had 13 assists and four aces. Emily McNicol had nine assists, three aces and two kills. Sam Drysdale had three blocks, two kills and an assist. Gia Pucci had two kills and an ace, while Myleigh Jackson had an assist and kll.

For Heartland, Emma Hall had six kills and 18 digs. Lauren Miasek had seven points, two aces and four digs. Jayden Scheller had nine assists and six digs.

Wellsville won the jayvee portion, 26-24, 25-50.

Heartland hosts Lisbon on Wednesday.

Salem 3, Ursuline 0

SALEM — Salem’s volleyball team dropped Ursuline 25-19, 25-14, 26-24 on Monday.

For the Quakers, Rylie Troy had 10 kills, nine digs and three aces. Zoie Reid had 10 kills and three digs. Emma Hochadel had nine aces and 18 assists. Jenna McClish had 13 digs.

Salem hosts Canton South today.

Southern 3, Chaney 0

SALINEVILLE — The Southern Local volleyball team rolled over Youngstown Chaney, 25-4, 25-15, 25-8, Monday.

Rylee Mellott totaled 24 points with 14 aces and 12 assists for the Indians.

Marissa Stewart contributed six points and one kill, Makya Shaw five points, Ashley Shroades 10 kills, Esther Forbes four kills and Aleah Bach three kills.

Southern (10-3) will host Columbiana today.

The Indians also won the junior varsity match, 25-2, 25-9, as Gigi Rodgers had 14 points with six aces and Cheyenne Bennett had 13 points with three aces.

East Liverpool 3, Struthers 0

STRUTHERS — East Liverpool got the ball rolling in a 25-23, 25-21 25-12 win over Struthers on Monday.

The Potters improve to 7-5 on the season.

East Liverpool leaders were Kyia White with 13 kills and three blocks; Gabby George two aces and 17 assists, Jetta Fitch three kills; Kenzie Walker four kills and two blocks; Naudia Williams eight kills, three aces and three blocks; and Faith Grafton two aces, four kills and 14 assists.

The Potters alsow on the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-23, as Rylee Handley had three aces, three kills and one block and Paityn Maze four kills and seven assists.

East Liverpool will play at Steubenville on Wednesday beginning with the freshman match at 5 p.m.

Poland 3, United 0

HANOVERTON — Poland swept United, 25-9, 25-12, 25-10, Monday.

Poland also won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-9.

United will host Valley Christian today.
