Penn-Ohio on Thursday

EAST LIVERPOOL — The 42nd Penn-Ohio Stateline Classic all-star football game will be held Thursday, June 24, at Patterson Field.

Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and introduction of players will be at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the gate. Advance tickets are available at East Liverpool High School from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Radio Shack in Columbiana, Sitler the Printer in Columbiana, Sport Connection in Salem and from any player or at practice.

Father’s Day treat for Tito

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cleveland manager Terry Francona Francona’s three daughters gave him a unique early Father’s Day present Saturday — five boxes of hot dogs.

The hot dogs were from the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in New Brighton, Pa., a town 30 miles north of Pittsburgh where Francona grew up. A sizeable contingent of fans from New Brighton were on hand for the game in Pittsburgh.

Chester blanks Salem

COLUMBIANA — Dave Smith tossed five no-hit innings in leading the Chester Old-Timers past Salem AMVETS, 10-0, in senior baseball action at Firestone Park Sunday.

Brian Six had three hits, including a home run, for Chester. Dave Smith went 3-for-3 and Mike Logston had two doubles. Doug Comm, Harold Beatty and Dan Eckleberry each had two hits.

Bill Sattler allowed two hits in two innings of relief.

Chester (6-1) will play at Girard at 2 p.m. Sunday. Salem moves to 1-7.
