East Palestine golf outing

EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine High School baseball team golf outing will be held at 8 a.m. July 17 at East Palestine Country Club.

Cost of the four-person scramble is $60 per person or $240 per team, which includes prizes, hot dogs and refreshments at the turn, dinner afterwards and a T-shirt.

Deadline to enter is June 26.

OVAC All-Star baseball game

WHEELING, W.Va. — The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Star Baseball Game will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the I-470 Complex.

Oak Glen’s Colten Ash and Cody Patterson will play for the West Virginia All-Stars.

The Ohio All-Star roster includes Edison’s Blake Connelly and Toronto’s Chris Parker and Brant Reeves.

OVAC players of the year

The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference baseball players of the year are Wheeling Park senior James Salvatori in Class 5A; Harrison Central sophomore Treston Nemeth in Class 4A; Barnesville senior Ayden Hannahs in Class 3A; River senior Jake Rose in Class 2A; and Hundred junior Christian Fluharty in Class 1A.

The OVAC co-coaches of the year are Anthony Reasbeck of Martins Ferry and Steve Myers of Wheeling Park.

Pirates host COVID clinic

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates will host a COVID-19 vaccination pregame clinic at PNC Park today as part of the “MLB Vaccinate at the Plate” campaign.

Today’s clinic will be held in the in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge from noon to 2 p.m. All unvaccinated fans who receive a shot will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a game of their choice in 2021. Fans can pre-register at pirates.com/vaccination and walk-ups are also welcome throughout the day.

Ohio Valley tops Riverside

Danny Bridges and Hunter Rhoades each had four hits in leading Ohio Valley past Riverside, 11-3, in baseball action Thursday.

Bridges doubled in the first and second innings and singled in the fourth and fifth inning.

Ohio Valley secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the second inning.

Sy Howell got the win for Ohio Valley, allowing six hits over seven innings.
