Range plays two today

Wednesday’s rainy weather affected several area baseball and softball tournament schedules.

The South Range-Rootstown Div. III district final baseball game originally scheduled for Wednesday was moved to 5 p.m. today at Waddell Park in Niles.

The Div. III regional softball games set for Youngstown State University on Wednesday were moved to today. Ursuline will play Brookside at 2 p.m. followed by South Range and Massillon Tuslaw at 5 p.m.

The Heartland Christian-Warren JFK Div. IV district final will be held at 6 p.m. today on Cene Park Field No. 2.

Scrappers win home opener

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers knocked off West Virginia 5-2 on Wednesday in the home MLB Draft League debut for the team.

The Scrappers have won three straight to start the season and will play the Spikes again today.

Ruritan golf scramble set

COLUMBIANA — The Leetonia Ruritan Club will hold its Scholarship Golf Scramble on June 12 at Valley Golf Club.

The four-person, nine-hole scramble is $31.25 per person or $125 per team which includes green fees, lunch beverages and two riding carts per four-person team.

There will be a $5,000 hole-in-one prize compliments of Holloway Insurance Company.
