Eagles trap Tigers

HANOVERTON –It took United a while to get going Thursday.

After falling behind 5-1 in the top of the fifth inning, United scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and five more in the sixth to rally past Wellsville, 13-5.

Tyler Dickens led the charge with three hits and three RBIs. Parker Berdine added a double. Landon Rhodes, Brock Rhodes and Andrew Winn each scored two runs.

Jaxon Brewer had two doubles and two runs for Wellsville. Caden Weekley also doubled. Justin Temple singled in the Tigers’ first two runs.

United (5-12) will play at Malvern today.

UNITY — Tyler Welsh had a single and double as Lisbon downed East Palestine 7-1 on Thursday.

Lisbon is 8-8 and 6-2 in the EOAC. The Blue Devils had played their first game in 12 days.

Hunter Sturgeon and Adam Spencer had two hits each. Ryan Reckner had a single and three RBIs.

STRUTHERS — Jake Kling pitched a one-hitter and had a single, double and four RBIs in Heartland’s 10-0 win over Lowellville on Thursday at Cene Park.

Joel Morgan added a single, double and an RBI. Zach Labon had a double and RBI.

Heartland (11-4) hosts Edison today.

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — East Liverpool’s baseball team scored two runs in the sixth on a Brooke error to grab the lead en route to a 6-2 win over Brooke on Thursday.

Evan Tice went 2 for 4 at the plate for the Potters.

Paxton Grimes had a double along with Mason Ludwig and Trent Davis.

East Liverpool is scheduled to play at Oak Glen today at 5 p.m.

SALINEVILLE — Timmy West had two hits and knocked in three runs as Southern baseball toppled East Palestine, 15-0, Tuesday.

Conner Lewis collected a pair of doubles during his three-RBI day. Garrett Brewer added a single, double and two RBIs. Aidan Spahlinger had two hits.

Indians pitcher Sam May chalked up the win as he tossed three scoreless frames and struck out four Bulldogs.

May also swiped three bases. The Indians had a total of seven stolen bases in the victory.
