Wilson’s 67 leads Flashes to Boilermaker Invite title

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — Kent State junior golfer Jared Wilson scored his best collegiate finish over the weekend.

Wilson shot a 5-under-par 67 in Sunday’s final round as he finished second individually at the Boilermaker Invitational and led the Golden Flashes to their first tournament win of the season.

Wilson, who was a two-time state champion at Columbiana High School, placed second in the 80-golfer field with rounds of 73-68-67 for an 8-under 208 on the 7,465-yard Kampen Golf Course.

He was one stroke behind Minnesota senior Angus Flanagan.

The Flashes rallied from a seven-stroke deficit heading into the final round and shot a 9-under 279. The Flashes had a 54-hole total of 12-under 852.

Wilson played in three events for Kent State as a sophomore and three events for Wake Forest as a freshman.

The Flashes will return to action this weekend at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State.
