Exline helps Salem beat Alliance in ninth inning

SALEM — Salem’s Blaize Exline’s walk-off line drive helped Salem to a 11-10 win over Alliance on Wednesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Salem moves to 6-1 and 4-0 in the EBC.

Exline had three hits and two RBIs on the night.

Lane Rhodes added a home run and four RBIs. Darius Beck had three hits.

Alliance took a 10-7 lead in the eighth before Salem came back to tie with three in the bottom half of the inning.

The game ended under the lights as rain began to fall.

Salem is at Lisbon on Friday.

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s Devin Toothman socked two solo home runs — one in the third and one in the fifth — as the Potters secured a 6-3 win over Harrison Central on Wednesday in Buckeye 8 play.

Paxton Grimes had a hit and two RBIs for the winners. Jake Smith earned the win on the mound and had a hit and RBI.

East Liverpool (5-3) will play a doubleheader at Cambridge at 1 p.m. Saturday.

CALCUTTA — Ryan Cunningham’s walk-off hit in the eighth inning led Beaver Local to a 13-12 win over Harrison Central on Wednesday.

Beaver Local is 4-1 and hosts Harrison on Friday.

Ethan Agnew had twi hits and two RBIs.

Beaver Local had to score two in the bottom of the eighth to win.

Dorian Jackson added two hits and four RBIs. One of the hits was a double.

Micah Jones had three hits and an RBI. Dylan Ferguson had three hits and two RBIs.

Beaver Local exploded for 10 runs in the first, but Edison tied the game up with five in the seventh.

LEETONIA — Columbiana maintained a perfect mark in the Eastern Buckeye Conference as three Clippers combined on a no-hitter in a 19-3 five-inning win over Leetonia on Tuesday.

Zachary Pleka, Brady Kridler and Seth Spooner all saw action on the mound and no-hit the Bears.

The Clippers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and scored 14 more in the second to take a 17-0 advantage.

Offensively, the Clippers were led by Joey Wilczak with two hits, three runs and two RBIs and Dalton Whitehair with two hits, a run and an RBI.

Pleska contributed two RBIs and Tyler Andersen had a hit and three RBIs. In the second inning, Logan Hoschar tripled and Bayden Pipoly had two-run double

Leetonia’s Dylan Chapman drove in a run and scored another.

Columbiana improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the EAOC. The Clippers will play Liberty at 5 p.m. today at Cene Park.

In the first game, a 13-3 win over Carroll in six innings, Trey Pancake paced the Raiders with four hits and four RBIs including a double and a triple.

Billy Skripac and Michael Perry had two hits each.

North Bullitt beat the Raiders 7-5 in eight innings in the second game.

Pancake had three hits including a double for the Raiders, 4-1.

South Range will play Madison today at the Ripken Experience.

Hayden Stewart had two hits and three RBIs, Aaron Gault doubled and singled and Tom Kling collected a two-run single for the Lions.

Carter Blakeman doubled and Keith Berger singled the Rebels’s two hits.

Heartland (4-1) will play a doubleheader at Lake Center Christian at 11 a.m. Saturday.
