Devils rally by Eagles

HANOVERTON — Lisbon rallied from an early three-run deficit to beat United, 4-3, Monday.

Both teams are 2-2 overall. Lisbon improves to 2-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, while United drops to 2-1.

Tyler Graham went the distance for the Blue Devils, shutting out the Eagles in the final five innings.

Brayden Flory collected two hits and Tyler Welch doubled.

The Eagles scored all three of their runs in the second inning. Landon Rhodes led off with a home run to left field. Brock Rhodes followed with a triple and scored on a two-out error in the outfield. Nevin Hahlen then stole second and third and scored on an overthrow.

The teams will play in Lisbon today.

UNITY — Logan Hoschar and Seth Spooner combined for a no-hitter as Columbiana downed East Palestine 13-0 in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game at Next Level.

Spooner added two hits and five RBIs. Zachary Pleska had a hit and two RBIs.

Bayden Pipoly had a two-run triple.

Hoschar had eight strikeouts in four innings. Spooner had three strikeouts in one inning.

Columbiana is 2-1 and 2-0 in the league.

The two teams play again today at Firestone Park.

Conner Lewis and Sam May had doubles for the Indians, 2-3. Southern will be at Leetonia today.

Mason Mellinger had two hits for the Bears.

NILES — Heartland Christian came up big at Eastwood Field on Monday.

Nate Garzanich, Luke Rafferty and Brett Walker combined on a no-hitter and the Lions had 17 stolen bases in a 19-2 win in five innings against Maplewood.

Aaron Gault led the offensive attack by going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Devin Sirota doubled, singled and drove in a run, Garzanich had two singles and two RBIS and Tom Kling had two singles and an RBI. Zach Labon was hit by a pitch three times and stole four bases.

Heartland improves to 3-0 heading into Wednesday’s home game against Crestview.

SALEM — Salem scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 6-3 victory over Crestview on Monday.

The Quakers improve to 4-1, while the Rebels fall to 2-2.

Lane Rhodes had two RBIs for the Quakers and Brock Young added a double. Young went the distance for the victory.

Carter Blakeman accounted for all of Crestview’s runs as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Jesse McKee and Sam Campbell added singles.

Both teams play today as Salem visits Alliance and Crestview hosts Liberty.

RICHMOND — Ryan Cunningham had two hits and four RBIs as Beaver Local downed Edison 5-2 in Buckeye 8 play on Monday.

Dylan Moore added a single and double for the winners, 3-2. Dorian Jackson had a single and an RBI.

Beaver Local hosts Edison on Wednesday.

CADIZ — East Liverpool’s baseball team fell to Harrison Central 12-2 in five innings on Monday.

Division III All-Ohio basketball player of the year Kobe Mitchell ended the game with a bases-clearing double. Mitchell had two hits and four RBIs.

Jake Smith had two hits and two RBIs for the Potters.

East Liverpool (3-3) will play at Steubenville Catholic Central today.
