Columbiana puts away Blue Devils

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana has the reigns in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference after a 10-1 win over Lisbon on Tuesday.

The Clippers are now 9-4 and 7-0 in the EOAC.

Lisbon fell to 5-7 and 5-2 in the EOAC.

Seth Spooner had a double and two RBIs for the winners. Carson Dota had a triple. Trevor Dearing had two hits.

Tyler Welsh had two hits for the Devils.

Columbiana is at East Liverpool on Friday.

LEETONIA — United Local packed a lot of hits in the middle of the lineup as the Eagles soared to a 21-6 win over Leetonia on Tuesday.

Landon Rhodes had four hits and three RBIs, while Tyler Dickens had four hits and two RBIs. Mikey Bardo had three hits and two RBIs. Nevin Hahlen had a hit and three RBIs. Tanner McCormack had two hits and four RBIs.

Tatum Finley had two hits for Leetonia.

Kolby Ramsey had a single, double and RBI for the Tigers.

Southern’s jayvees defeated Beaver Local 18-6 on Tuesday.

Chuck McCulley had two singles, a triple and five RBIs for the Indians. Gabe Blissenbach had three hits.

ALLIANCE — Salem’s baseball team is looking to be a league title contender after a 3-2 victory over Marlington on Tuesday in a key Eastern Buckeye Conference tilt.

The Quakers are 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the EBC. Salem sits alone in first place in the league.

Darius Beck continued his hot hitting with a single, double an RBI.

Lane Rhodes, a Youngstown State recruit, got the win on the mound with seven strikeouts. He also had a double and an RBI.

The two teams will play again at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The game scheduled for 7 p.m. today was struck from the schedule.

Salem has EBC series with Carrollton, Canton South and West Branch left.

Jake Smith, Trent Davis and Evan Tice all had multiple hits for the Potters. Smith went 3 for 5 at the plate.

Colin Snedeker had a home run for the Riders.
