Columbiana hits the big time at PNC Park

PITTSBURGH — Columbiana got a big league opportunity on Friday night when it played Ringgold (Pa.) in a contest at PNC Park, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ringgold’s Hunter Mamie had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Keystone state team to a 9-2 win.

Columbiana (7-2) scattered five hits through the lineup.

Tyler Andersen had an RBI single in the second for the Clippers. Seth Spooner added a single and RBI.

Columbiana plays Lisbon at noon on Sunday at Canal Park in Akron. Both Lisbon and Columbiana are unbeaten at 5-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

UNITY — Heartland Christian survived a late rally by Lisbon as the Lions dumped the Devils 7-5 on Friday at Next Level.

Caleb Graft hit a two-run double for the Lions. Nate Garzanich had a single, double and RBI. Aaron Gault doubled and singled, Tom Kling doubled and Hayden Stewart had an RBI single.

Hunter Sturgeon had two hits for the Devils.

Tyler Welsh had a double and an RBI.

Heartland is 7-3 and will host Southern at 10 a.m. today.

Lisbon is 5-5 and will play Columbiana at noon Sunday at Canal Park in Akron.

SALEM– Brock Young had two hits and three RBIs as Salem socked United 11-0 in five innings on Friday under the lights at Salem High School.

Salem is 9-2.

Corey Riesen added a single, double and three RBIs. Preston Markovich had two hits and two RBIs.

Nevin Hahlen had the Eagles’ only two hits.

Salem hosts LaBrae on Monday. The game against Girard scheduled for today was canceled.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s baseball team recorded an 11-5 win over Martins Ferry on Friday.

Nick Chaney got the win on the mound for the Bears.

Oak Glen is at Linsly on Monday.
