Waters, Mixon place for Raiders

WESTERVILLE — Mount Union senior Calista Waters won the 1600-meter relay and freshman Jaliyah Mixon was third in the shot put to pace the Purple Raiders in the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday.

Mount Union finished second in the team standings with 194 1/2 points. John Carroll captured its first indoor title with 216 points.

Waters, a West Branch High School graduate, ran a leg on the 1600 relay team that posted a winning time of 4 minutes, 9.14 seconds at Otterbein’s Clements Center. It was one of Mount Union’s five victories.

She also was seventh in the 400 meters (62.22). The Purple Raiders took six of the top seven places in the event.

Sophomore Micah Donley of Carrollton was third in the 400 (60.50), fifth in the 200 (26.35) and joined Waters on the winning 1600 relay team.

Junior Michaelina Terranova of Jackson-Milton was third in the 60 hurdles (9.13) and fourth in the 400 (60.67).

Mixon, from East Palestine, was third in the shot put (40-8 1/4).

Muskingum senior Mary Double of Salem was sixth in 800 relay (1:57.24) and seventh in 1600 relay (4:41.78).

The OAC men’s indoor meet will be held Saturday.
