Lamparty on All-Ohio first team

COLUMBUS — Senior Izzy Lamparty and junior Lexi Giles shined the brightest on a South Range team filled with stars.

Lamparty was named first-team Division III All-Ohio and Giles received honorable mention by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association on Tuesday.

They led the Raiders to a 23-5 season and a second straight trip to the regional final

Lamparty led the Raiders in scoring (20.4), rebounds (10.1), field goal percentage (57.4) and free throw percentage (73.6). She totaled 1,628 points in her career.

Giles was second on the team in scoring (12.8) and rebounds (4.1) to go along with 3.6 steals and 2.0 steals a game.

Also in Division III, Crestview senior Krista Perry received special mention and East Palestine senior Joclyn Fristik and Columbiana senior Grace Witmer were named honorable mention.

Perry sparked the Rebels to a 15-10 campaign.

She led the Rebels in scoring (15.4), rebounds (9.0) and steals (2.8). She scored 1,294 career points.

Fristik guided the Bulldogs to a 9-3 season and the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference overall championship.

She was the leading scorer (15.4) and added 1.7 steals a game.

Witmer averaged a team-high 20.0 points, 3.9 steals, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Clippers, who finished with an 11-9 record. She shot 46 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the foul line.

In Division IV, McDonald senior Molly Howard was named to the first team and Western Reserve senior Danielle Vuletich to the second team for the third straight season.

Howard led McDonald to the state championship game and a 21-3 record. She averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds a game, both team highs.

Vuletich guided Western Reserve to a district title and a 21-6 season, three losses coming to McDonald. She averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds, both team highs. She had more than 1,800 points and 1,100 rebounds in her career.

Sebring senior Emma Whaley and McDonald senior Sophia Costantino, a 1,000-point scorer, received honorable mention.

Whaley topped the Trojans by averaging 19.0 point a game.
