Devils pound Tigers

LISBON — Lisbon’s softball team was ready from the start on Monday during its season opener against Wellsville.

The Devils pounded out 12 hits en route to a 13-0 win over the Tigers in five innings.

McKenna Dailey had two doubles and two RBIs. Mya Emmerling added a triple, single and two RBIs. Justyce Vrable added an inside-the-park home run and two RBIs.

Greta Cartwright had a single and double for the Tigers.

The two teams play again today at Wellsville.

EAST PALESTINE — United scored seven runs in the seventh to down East Palestine 14-13 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Tori Firth had three hits including a double for the Eagles. Savannah Burton added a double and Colby Burton had a triple.

East Palestine comes to United today.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s Mackenzie Gamble tossed a no-hitter as the Clippers bested Leetonia 6-2 on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Gamble’s wild pitch in the first inning pushed Delaney Roller and Hayleigh Brock across for the Bears, but after that it was all Columbiana.

Tori Long had three hits including a home run and two RBIs. Gamble also had three hits and three RBIs.

The two teams play again at Leetonia on Wednesday.

Alexis Jordan had two hits for the Beavers. Olivia Keller had a hit.

RICHMOND — East Liverpool’s softball team didn’t fare well in its 2021 debut as Edison rolled over the Potters 19-0 in five innings Monday at Jefferson Lake State Park.

Edison’s Hannah Christoff drove in nine runs with two home runs and a double.

Destiny Smith singled for the Potters’ lone hit.

The two teams are scheduled at East Liverpool on Wednesday.

SEBRING — Sebring’s softball team bested Youngstown East 12-2 in five innings on Monday. Delaney Reggi had three hits and five RBIs for the Trojans. That included a double and triple.

Abby Joseph had four hits including a two-run single for the winners. Carlee Bacon added three hits including a game-tying double.

Haleigh McCalla got the win on the mound.
