Area stars get D-II mentions

COLUMBUS — Salem senior Kyla Jamison has been a mainstay in the Quakers’ lineup during her high school career.

Jamison received special mention on the Division II Ohio high school girls basketball team released by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association on Tuesday.

West Branch senior Jillian Pidgeon, East Liverpool senior Makayla Reed and Minerva senior Coletta Miller all were named honorable mention.

Jamison — who was All-Ohio honorable mention the past two years — led the Quakers to a 16-6 season and a share of their second Eastern Buckeye Conference title in three seasons.

She topped the Quakers in scoring (11.4), rebounds (7.6) and field goal percentage (46 percent). She scored 1,294 career points.

Pidgeon guided the Warriors to a 20-5 season. She led the Warriors in points (8.4), assists (2.9), steals (2.6) and three-pointers made (37).

Reed averaged a team-high 15.7 points along with 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists a game for the 10-11 Potters.
