Spartans pick Antram

BOARDMAN — Boardman is turning to a 2002 Crestview High School graduate to revive its football program.

In a special Boardman Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, board members unanimously approved the hiring of Seth Antram as the new head football coach of the Spartans.

Boardman boosters, Gridiron Club members, parents and football players turned out to meet the new coach.

Antram has spent the last 12 years working in education and coaching football on the high school and collegiate level, most recently as an offensive coordinator at Youngstown Chaney High School.

Prior to working with Chaney, he was a volunteer assistant for Youngstown State University.

At Crestview, Antram played quarterback and wide reciever. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 2008 with a major in physcial education.

“We believe Coach Antram will continue to build on the strong tradition of excellence in our football program with his great work ethic and attention to detail,” said Boardman athletic director Marco Marinucci. “He’s an X’s and O’s guy who knows football, and he comes to us with great recommendations from many very well-respected coaches in the area.”

“I’m excited to join the Boardman School District and community, and I look forward to helping our student athletes succeed both on the field and in the classroom,” said Antram.

The month-long search prompted more than 40 applicants for the Spartan head coach position. Antram will begin his coaching duties immediately and will join Boardman High School’s teaching staff in the fall.
