Southern Local keeps share of EOAC lead

COLUMBIANA — Southern Local kept its share of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference lead with a 61-39 win over Columbiana on Tuesday.

Southern is 7-0 and 5-0 in the league. The Indians are at Buckeye Trail on Saturday.

Columbiana is 1-7, 0-3 EOAC.

For the Indians, Brady Ketchum led the way with 17 points, three assists and two steals. Brock Smalley had 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Tim West added 10 points and Sam May had eight points and two blocks. Bradly Sloan contributed six steals and four rebounds, Jason Riggs three rebounds and Josh Pratt three asissts.

Dalton Whitehair had 15 points for the Clippers. Nick Million added six rebounds.

Columbiana won the jayvee game, 51-44. Aaron Marvin had 13 points for the Clippers. Devon Daughtery also had 13 points. Markell Smith had 21 points and Jason Riggs 11 for the Indians.

YOUNGSTOWN–The United boys basketball team fell to Valley Christian 61-46 on Tuesday night. The Eagles fall to 3-6 on the season.

Liberty 48, Crestview 34

LIBERTY — Omarion Dawson’s triple-double guided Liberty past Crestview, 48-34, Tuesday.

Dawson totaled 10 points, 16 rebounds and 12 blocks for the Leopards, who improve to 2-1. James Davis had a team-high 17 points and Rashad Chambers added five assists and six steals.

The Rebels trailed 19-8 at halftime and finished the night shooting 19 percent from the field.

Drake Golden had a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds for the Rebels.

Liberty also won the junior varsity game, 42-36. Elijah Walton scored 16 points for the Leopards. Wyatt Miller had 13 points for the Rebels

Crestview will host Brookfield on Friday.

GREENFORD — South Range’s boys basketball team got 21 points from Mike Patrone in a 56-45 win over Lakeview on Tuesday in Northeast 8 play.

Eli Taylor added 14 points for the Raiders.

South Range hosts Niles on Saturday.

The Raiders won the jayvee game, 41-40.

Mineral Ridge 69, Sebring 65 OT

MINERAL RIDGE — Sebring’s Dylan Johnson tallied 24 points but Mineral Ridge stunned the Trojans in overtime with a 69-65 win on Tuesday in Mahohing Valley Athletic Conference action.

Frankie Lozoya had 14 points for the Trojans while Conner Shepherd added 12 points. Sebring is 2-9 and 0-7.

Mineral Ridge won the jayvee portion, 47-25.

For the Trojans, Andrew Lantham had 10 points.

Sebring is at Kingsway on Saturday.
