Champion pulls away from Crestview

CHAMPION — Emma Gumont scored 13 of her team-high 17 points in the second half to lead Champion past Crestview, 46-34, Thursday.

Champion moves to 3-1 overall and in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier. Crestview drops to 8-6 and 2-4 in league play.

The Flashes led 27-24 through three quarters before pulling away with 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Krista Perry had a game-high 19 points and five rebounds for the Rebels. Ashton Hughes added five steals, Addison Bandy contributed three assists, three steals and three blocks and Mara Halas made three blocks.

The Flashes also won the junior varsity game, 35-17. Katie Lissi and Karsyn Moore each had four points for the Rebels.

Crestview will host Mathews tonight and Western Reserve on Saturday.

South Range 50, Niles 21

NILES — Nothing can slow down the South Range girls.

The Raiders, missing three starters from the lineup, jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead and beat Niles, 50-21, Thursday.

South Range improves to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast 8.

The Raiders led 28-8 at halftime and 44-12 after three quarters.

South Range will host Lakeview on Saturday
