Wellsville VB time change

BELMONT — Wellsville will have to wait a little longer for its Ohio Valley Athletic Conference volleyball championship match Saturday.

The Class 1-A and 3-A matches were switched to allow fans to get back for Fort Frye’s Division VI football playoff game on Saturday night.

The Wellsville volleyball will close out the regular season by hosting Western Reserve today. Then second-seeded Wellsville vwill play top-seeded Paden City in the Class 1-A final at 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Union Local High School.

Saturday’s OVAC Finals

Class 5-A: #1 Wheeling Park vs. #3 Morgantown, 9 a.m.

Class 3-A: #1 Fort Frye vs. #3 Linsly, 11:15 a.m.

Class 2-A: #1 Shadyside vs. #3 Shenandoah, 1:30 p.m.

Class 1-A: #1 Paden City vs. #2 Wellsville, 3:45 p.m.

Class 4-A: #1 Beaver Local vs. #2 Union Local, 6 p.m.

Salem hosts EBC meet

SALEM — The Eastern Buckeye Conference Cross Country Championship will feature three state-ranked teams Saturday at Waterworth Memorial Park.

Minerva and Salem, ranked 12th and 19th in the Division II state poll, will compete for the girls team title. Minerva has won the last two years.

The Salem boys have won three straight league titles, but Marlington comes in ranked fifth in the Division II state poll.

Action begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with the high school boys, followed by the high school girls at 10:40 a.m., middle school boys at 11:20 a.m. and middle school girls at noon.

Specatators are limited to four per athlete. It is recommended spectators park at Salem High School and walk to the park.

Additional parking is located off Ellsworth Avenue behind the CenterPlex.
