United routs Warren JFK for eighth
HANOVERTON — The United boys soccer team improved to 8-1-1 with a 12-0 win over Warren JFK on Saturday.
Leading the Eagles were Albert Berenguer with three goals and one assist and Jacob Tucker with three goals.
Also contributing to the Eagle attack were Luke Medure with two goals and one assist, Kade Blake with one goal and two assists, Keaton Widlicka with one goal and one assist, and Nevin Jones and Matthew Logan with one goal each.
Rounding out the assists for the Eagles were Kelan Johnson with two and Wyatt Medure and Dante Rapp with one each.
Dylan Thompson and Ethan Hively combined for the shutout with four saves by Thompson and six by Hively.
United Local travels to Warren JFK on Thursday.
West Branch 1, Canfield 1
BELOIT — In a matchup of two state-ranked girls soccer teams, West Branch and Canfield played to a 1-1 tie Saturday.
After a quick goal by Canfield, West Branch was able to fight back as Jillian Pidgeon converted on a penalty kick mideway through the second half.
West Branch is ranked seventh in the Division II coaches state poll, while Canfield is ranked 15th.
West Branch (7-0-2) will host Carrollton on Tuesday.
Oak Glen 8, Wheeling Central 0
WHEELING, W.Va. — The Oak Glen girls soccer team defeated Wheeling Central, 8-0, Saturday.
Reece Enochs led the scoring attack with three goals. Kami Ward and Brooklyn Loveland each had two goals and Jori Alexander had one.
The Golden Bears moved to 6-2 on the season and will prepare to defend their OVAC title this week.
