Sebring will skip playoffs
SEBRING — The Sebring football team will not be in the state playoffs for the first time after all.
Sebring athletic director Brian Clark said the Trojans have opted out of the playoffs and have replaced a tournament game that weekend with a game at Mathews at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
“Both schools feel that this matchup gives the kids a better chance to experience competitive success on the field,” Clark said.
The rest of Sebring’s regular-season schedule includes at Springfield (if eliminated) or Southington on Oct. 16, at Lisbon on Oct. 23 and home against Leetonia on Oct. 30.
All Ohio high school football teams will be eligible for the playoffs due to the coronavirus pandemic unless they opt out by Thursday.
