Salem stops United

HANOVERTON– Salem volleyball defeated United 25-13, 25-13, 25-16 on Monday night.

For Salem, Emma Hochadel had 7 assists, Morgan McGaffick 12 assists, Kaley Davis 8 kills, Kaelyn Helmick 3 kills, Hannah Bowers 3 aces, Rylie Troy 15 digs.

For the Eagles (7-2), Savannah Burton had five points and four kills.

In Jayvee action, Salem defeated United 25-22, 7-25, 25-22.

For United (6-3), Grace Knight had 16 points, seven aces, four blocks and three kills. Maddie Lucas nine points, two aces and five assists.

Columbiana 3,

Lowellville 0

COLUMBIANA — Senior libero Maci Linhart collected her 1,000th career dig in leading Columbiana past Lowellville, 25-9, 25-14, 25-18, Monday.

The Clippers improve to 10-1 overall heading into today’s match at United.

Linhart totaled eight digs, two aces and two kills. Grace Witmer totaled 10 points, two aces, three kills, 13 assists and six digs; Tori Long 10 points, three aces, three kills and five digs; Maddie Witherow eight points, five kills and five digs; and Camille Zentner three kills and three blocks.

Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-19, to impove to 7-4. The Clippers were led by Brileigh Kocanjer with nine points, five aces and two kills and Ryleigh Zohnd with five kills.

Beaver 3, Indian Creek 0

WINTERSVILLE — Beaver Local held off Indian Creek for a 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 win Monday.

“Going to Creek is always a challenge for our team, but I would say we played together as a team,” said Beaver Local middle hitter Elizabeth Kolkowski, who had five kills, seven blocks and four digs. “One of our problems this season is starting off strong, but we executed that very well in tonight’s game. Our sidelines and players on the court were booming with excitement on every point which gets us going.”

Guiding the Beavers were Emma Roberts with 13 points and one ace; Karlee Furman nine points, two aces, four kills, 14 assists and nine digs; Kodi Kinsey nine points, five aces and 13 digs; Brooke Talbot six points, two aces, nine kills, 11 assists and 11 dig; Cierrah Thurik five points, one ace and eight digs; Grace Hill 13 kills and two blocks; Erin O’Hara two kills; Leah Riccardo three blocks; and Bailee Bowersock eight digs.

Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 25-23, 25-12. For the Beavers, Peyton Roberts six kills, three digs and four points; Madison Lowe eight points, five aces, six kills and eight digs; Chloe Reed six points, three aces and seven digs; Lexi Schrieber four kills and 10 assists; Emma Joseph six points, two aces, eight assists and five digs; Hannah Kelly five points, two aces and seven digs.

The Beavers will play at East Liverpool for a volley for the curt match Thursday, beginning with the freshman match at 4:30 p.m.

Heartland 3, Malvern 0

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian swept Malvern, 25-19, 25-16, 25-22, Monday.

The Lion improve to 3-5 on the season.

For Heartland, Makayla Osborn had 15 kills, seven points, three aces and 25 digs; Lydia Wilson 31 assists, two aces and two kills; and Emma Hall 11 kills, 12 points, six aces, four blocks and 15 digs.

In the junior varsity match, Malvern won 25-20, 21-25, 25-22. For the Lions, Bella Drokin had 10 points, five aces, five kills, 13 assists and 10 digs; Elise Wintersteller three points, nine kills and four digs; and Lexi Wright three points, five kills and two digs.

Heartland will host Lisbon on Wednesday.

Boardman 3,

South Range 1

BOARDMAN–Boardman volleyball defeated South Range 25-12, 19-25, 25-21, 25-10 on Monday night at South Range

South Range moves to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in league play.

For South Range, Julia Blasko had two aces, Juli Stachowicz six kills, Reagan Iron 15 digs and Jamie Feren 11 assists.

East Liverpool 3,

Edison 0

EAST LIVERPOOL– East Liverpool volleyball took down Edison on Monday night, 25-18, 27-25, 25-11.

For East Liverpool, Sharnae Wilson had 19 kills and six blocks, Addisyn Galeoti 27 digs and Jetta Fitch 13 digs and four kills.

For Edison, Karissa Speedy had five points, nine assists and two blocks, Gracie Fox seven points and Corinne Freeman 11 blocks and seven kills

In jayvee action, the Potters won 22-25, 25-16, 25-23.

For Edison, Hailey Teichman had 10 points and Rebecka Evans nine points.

For the Potters, Dalani Ice had eight points and five assists, Paityn Maze seven assists and four digs and Aliyah Parson 21 digs. In freshman action, East Liverpool won 25-14, 25-9. Pressly Meadows had seven points for Edison.

For East Liverpool, Lily Miller had 12 points and four aces.

Crestview freshmen

BOARDMAN– The Crestview freshman volleyball team was defeated by Boardman with scores 21-25, 21-25 on Monday Night.
