Rebels blank Branch
COLUMBIANA — The state-ranked Crestview boys soccer team bested West Branch 2-0 on Thursday.
Crestview is 9-0 and is ranked eighth in Div. III in the latest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll.
Nick Novak had both goals for the Rebels. Colt Crane and Zach Wellman had assists.
Sean Helpy had six saves. This is his fifth shutout of the season.
Jeff Legros made seven saves for West Branch, which will play at Carrollton on Monday.
Crestview hosts East Liverpool on Sept. 24.

EAST LIVERPOOL — Jake Myers scored on an assist from Aiden Payne to preserve a 1-1 tie on Thursday at Patterson Field.
East Liverpool is 3-2-2 and awaits word today if it made the field for the OVAC 4A tournament.
Anthony Venditti scored for the Crusaders.
Cole Dailey had five saves in goal for the Potters.
East Liverpool will be at Crestview on Sept. 24 if it fails to qualify for the OVAC tournament.
United 10, Bristol 0
HANOVERTON — United’s boys soccer team dominated in a 10-0 win over Bristol on Thursday.
United is 7-1-1.
Kade Blake led the Eagles with three goals and three assists. Albert Berenguer also scored three goals with Louden Stryffeler, Caleb Rawson, Ethan Stout, and Luke Medure each adding one. Tallying assists were Nathan Marhefka and Matthew Logan with two each, and Berenguer and Joel VanPelt adding one each.
In goal for the Eagles splitting the clean sheet were Dylan Thompson with two saves and Ethan Hively with four saves. United hosts Warren JFK Saturday.
Columbiana 7, Mineral Ridge 3
MINERAL RIDGE — Gabe Heinrich scored four goals as Columbiana downed Mineral Ridge, 7-3, in boys soccer action Thursday.
Collin Schick collected two goals and Drake Daugherty one goal and one assist.
James Porter contributed two assists, Ashton Kakavros one. Nate Burnell, Dylan Hogan and James Serroka each had three saves in goal.
Clippers improve to 5-2 and travel to East Palestine on Monday.
Salem 3, Ravenna 2
SALEM — Salem’s boys soccer team got goals from AR Sharma, Hunter Griffith and Tim Stephens in a 3-2 win over Ravenna on Thursday at Sebo Stadium.
Jacob McLachlan had an assist.
Caiden Hart had four saves in goal.
Salem is 4-5 and will host Marlington on Tuesday.
Salem 9, Crestview 0
SALEM — Salem’s girls soccer team was a 9-0 winner over Crestview on Thursday.
Paige Bailey led the Lady Quakers with two goals and an assist. She would have contributed another assist, but after a fantastic individual effort to beat a couple defenders, she played a cross in toward Zoe DeLand, but a Crestview defender deflected the ball in for an own goal.
Zoe DeLand did add two other goals to the team tally. Rylee Hutton found the back of the net twice. Abbie Davidson and Hannah Kelm each had one goal. Mikaylynn Murphy and Annie Davidson each contributed one assist each. Sam Moore had one save in goal. Kaylee Carlisle also contributed in goal, coming out of the box to clear a ball from a rushing attacker.
Salem is 9-0-0 and will be at Warren JFK Monday.
West Branch 8, Ursuline 0
YOUNGSTOWN — Jillian Pidgeon scored three goals and Bri Thomas two as the state-ranked West Branch girls soccer team blanked Ursuline, 8-0, at Youngstown State on Wednesday night.
Sophia Gregory had one goal and one assist, while Addy Jones and Daphny Snyder added goals. Emma Egli collected four assists and Chloe Dennison two. Amanda Davidson made one save.
The Warriors, ranked seventh in the Division II state coaches poll, improve to 7-0-1. They will host Canfield at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Oak Glen 9, Edison 1
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s girls soccer team beat Edison 9-1 on Thursday.
Reece Enochs led the offensive attack with four goals. Brooklyn Loveland and Mallory Hawkey added two goals each. Carson Barr and Phoebe Molish each contributed a goal. The Bears are back in action Saturday versus Wheeling Central.
