Bulldogs out of action

EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine football team is out of action for two weeks after a player tested positive for COVID-19.

East Palestine coach Tony Foster said the Bulldogs were informed Monday that practices will be shut down for 14 days.

He said a player woke up last Wednesday with symptoms and reported them, but has not had a fever since Friday. The team has not been around the player since last Tuesday.

The team photo scheduled for Friday has been postponed. Foster said the Bulldogs are still planning on opening the regular season at Youngstown Christian on Aug. 28.

Spartans also sit out

BOARDMAN — The Boardman football program shut down after a player tested positive for COVID-19.

The school district said it has been in contact with the county board of health and is conducting contact tracing.

Morris hits hole-in-one

BELOIT — Missy Morris of Salem recorded her first hole-in-one Saturday at Westville Lake Country Club.

Morris used a 3-wood to ace the 130-yard sixth hole. The shot was witnessed by Amy Ward of Salem.

Clipper Cross Country Series race Wednesday

COLUMBIANA — The third race in the 22nd annual Clipper Cross Country Series will be Wednesday.

It will be held on the 1.85-mile junior high course at the Ward Athletic Complex behind Columbiana High School.

Races will be held at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Each race is limited to 50 runners. A 7:30 p.m. will be held if needed.
