EAST LIVERPOOL — Craig Miladin, owner of Miladin Chiropractic, and Tom Beagle, owner of Power Fitness FT, teamed up to compete in the USA Powerlifting New Year Open on Jan. 18 at Old School Iron Gym in Brook Park.

Both competitors managed to take home gold medals at the event.

Miladin, age 52, competed in the Raw Master 2, 105-kilo division and finished with lifts of: 385 pounds (squat), 275 (bench) and 407 (deadlift). He went 9 for 9 with 27 white lights which means he did not miss an attempt. He placed first in the Masters 2 and silver in the Raw Open Division. Miladin totaled nearly 1,069 pounds in his competitions.

Beagle, age 50, competed in the Raw Guest Lifter, 105-kilo division and finished with lifts of 551 pounds (squat), 330 (bench) and 551 (deadlift). He also went 9 for 9 with 27 white lights. Beagle had the largest squat of the entire meet and tied for the best lifter at roughly 1,433 pounds.

Both men train together at Power Fitness FT in East Liverpool. Last year, Power Fitness hosted two sanctioned powerlifting meets and this year has four sanctioned meets scheduled. The meets will draw competitors from all over the country. Meets are slated for May 3, June 6, June 20 and Sept. 15.
