Two games postponed

The Wednesday night snowstorm postponed two girls basketball games — Columbiana at state-ranked Western Reserve and state-ranked McDonald at Crestview.

The Columbiana at Western Reserve game will be held at 5:30 p.m. today, while the McDonald at Crestview game has been rescheduled for noon Saturday.

Beavers, Potters swimmers

COLUMBUS — Members of Beaver Local’s and East Liverpool’s swim team competed on Wednesday at the Division II district meet at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at Ohio State University.

The first two finishers in each event earned automatic bids to the state meet Feb. 19-22 at Branin Natatorium in Canton. The other state spots are at-large spots determined by the top times around the state.

United boys beat Marlington

KENSINGTON — The United boys bowling downed Marlington, 2364-2203 Wednesday at Forest Lanes.

The Eagles boys were led by Shawn Hawkins with a 201 game and 370 series. Chris Combs had a 200 game.

The United girls were defeated 2281-2079. Dorothy Herold guided the Eagles with a 195 game and 333 series. Sara Syppko added a 163 game.

The Eagles will end their season in a home match against Glen Oak at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Bears open at 3 p.m. Friday

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The West Virginia Class AA/A, Region 1 wrestling tournament will be held at 3 p.m. Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fairmont Armory. Oak Glen will be among the 17 schools competing.

Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students.
