Rebels cage Bears

LEETONIA — Crestview took an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter and held on for a 56-54 win over Leetonia on Tuesday. The Rebels improve to 7-14 overall.

Kirkland Miller topped the Rebels with 13 points. Jack Yerkey collected 12 points and nine rebounds, Drake Golden 10 points and seven rebounds, Anthony Cusick scored seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter to go along with five rebounds and Brandon Yanssens had five assists and three steals

Dylan Lennon and Ian Davis each scored 15 points for the Bears. Marco Ferry added nine points.

Leetonia won the junior varsity game, 35-33. Jacob McCool led the Bears with 15 points. Nick Novak scored nine points for the Rebels.

Crestview plays at Heartland on Friday.

Lisbon 62

BROOKFIELD — Lisbon’s Blayne Brownfield had 27 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Brookfield scored a 69-62 victory on Tuesday.

Lisbon falls to 9-12.

Gaige Rohm added 12 points for the Devils, while Ryan McCullough had 10 assists.

Brookfield won the jayvee game, 36-29. Hunter Sturgeon scored 15 for the Devils.

West Branch is at Jackson-Milton on Friday.

Malvern 73, United 48

MALVERN — Derk Hutchison scored 22 points through three quarters in leading Malvern past United, 73-48, Tuesday.

John Browning added 15 points and Michael Minot 12 for the Hornets, who led 22-8 in the first quarter.

Nate Miller topped United with 18 points. Keaton Baker added eight points.

Malvern also won the junior varsity game, 50-27.

United closes out the regular season at Salem on Friday.

GREENFORD — Chris Brooks has been the man for the South Range boys basketball team this season and again he came through with 30 points in a 57-47 victory over Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday.

Dante DiGaetano added nine points for the Raiders.

Mooney won the jayvee game, 34-33.

SEBRING — The Sebring boys basketball team had a rough second quarter and never recovered in a 73-60 loss to Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference champ Waterloo on Tuesday.

The Vikings outscored the Trojans 23-11 in the second quarter to take advantage.

Sebring falls to 14-7 and 7-7 in the league. Waterloo is 20-2 and 13-1.

Connor Shepherd had 15 points for the Trojans. Jake Hunter added 14 points.

Waterloo won the jayvee game, 40-26.

Sebring is at Northeast 8 conference champ Struthers on Friday.

BERLIN CENTER — McDonald senior Zach Rasile had 40 points to lead his team to a 77-45 win over Western Reserve on Tuesday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.

Rasile now has 2,869 points for his career and is fourth on the Ohio high school all-time scoring list behind John Glenn’s Jay Burson (2,958), Franklin’s Luke Kennard (2,977) and Upper Sandusky’s Jon Diebler (3,208).

Jake Portolese added 20 points for the winners.

Noah Klasic had 17 points for Reserve.

Western Reserve won the jayvee game, 46-31. Avery Miller had 11 points for the Reserve.
