Knight rolls her way into districts

DOVER — Beaver Local’s Kierra Knight extended her bowling season Thursday.

Knight was the only area bowler to advance out of the Division II girls sectional tournament Thursday at Boulevard Lanes.

Knight had a high game of 192 for a 533 series that was 10th overall and captured the third and final district qualifying spot as an individual.

The top three teams and three individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the district tournament next Friday at Sunrise Strikes in Zanesville.

The top three teams were Carrollton (3,756), River View (3,530) and Zanesville Maysville (3,436).

East Liverpool was sixth with (3,325) and Beaver Local was (2,873).

For the Potters, Madyson McGaffic rolled a 497 series, Hannah Russell 495, Delaney Riggle 482, Allison Danver 440 and Angelica Rogers 439.

Following Knight for the Beavers, Karlee Furman had a 172 game and 429 series, while Emma Boling rolled a 416, Brandi Fisher 244, Lexi Timmons 232 and Hayley Cooper 233.

Beaver Local and East Liverpool return to Boulevard Lanes today for the boys sectional tournament.

Lions advance

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Megan Keister and Skylar Timmerman took two of the top three spots in leading the Minerva girls bowling team to a second-place finish at the Division II sectional tournament Thursday at St. Clair Lanes.

Minerva, which has advanced to the state championship round three of the last four years, placed second with 3,433 pins. Claymont was first with 3,466. Harrison Central was third with 3,146.

Claymont’s Kayla Beckley was the top individual with a 599 series. Minerva’s Megan Keister (556) and Skylar Timmerman (541) finished second and third, respectively.

Also contributed for the Lions were Carly Koontz (461), Cheyenne Garrison (459) and Hannah Hawes (377).
