Brownfield, Davis power Devils in EOAC opener

LEETONIA — Lisbon’s boys basketball team got 14 points from Blayne Brownfield and 13 more from Michael Davis as the Blue Devils knocked off Leetonia 57-33 on Friday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Lisbon is 1-3 and 1-0 in the league, while Leetonia is 0-2, 0-1.

Kaden Crawford had 10 boards to aid the Devils, while Ryan McCullough and Davis had four assists each. Lisbon hosts Crestview on Dec. 14.

Jordan Baker paced the Bears with 13 points, while Sefton Houlette had 10 points.

Leetonia won the jayvee game, 42-29. Timathy Johnson had 12 points for the Bears. Hunter Sturgeon had 16 for Lisbon.

East Palestine 32

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Union (Pa.) struck down East Palestine 86-32 on Friday night in boys basketball action at the Mohawk High School Tip-off Tournament.

East Palestine falls to 0-2. The Bulldogs trailed by 16 after the first quarter and by 36 at the half.

Jonathan Bertovich had 19 points for the Bulldogs who are back in action at the Mohawk Tournament today.

Minerva 59, Salem 54

MINERVA — Salem opened the boys basketball season with a solid first quarter, but the Quakers could not avoid a Minerva comeback as the Lions bounced back for a 59-54 win on Friday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Salem (0-1, 0-1) was up 25-15 after a quarter, but the Lions (2-1, 0-1) cut the halftime lead to three and then overtook the Quakers in the second half.

Hunter Griffith had 16 points to lead the Quakers. Jaren Snyder added 12 points.

Noah Sallade had 14 points for the Lions. Mitch Greer and Koby Kinsey had 10 points each.

Salem hosts Girard on Tuesday in the home opener.

Minerva won the jayvee portion 29-26. Logan Blissenbach had nine points for Salem.

GREENFORD–Behind 26 points from Chris Brooks, the South Range boys basketball team knocked off Canfield 65-47 on Friday.

Dante Digaetano added 14 points for the Raiders.

Canfield won the jv game 51-36. Steve Rohan had 19 points for South Range.

ALLIANCE–The West Branch boys basketball team opened Eastern Buckeye Conference play with a 52-37 victory over Alliance Friday.

Reese Leone powered the Warriors (3-0, 1-0) with 22 points. Nick Everett added 11 points.

Alliance falls to 0-1.

West Branch won the jv game 45-37.

SEBRING — Sebring had 14 players score and was 42 of 58 from the field in a 90-13 over East Liverpool Christian on Friday.

Gabe Lanzer paced the winners with 16 points. Carson Rouse added 15 points.

Owen Bouscher had 10 points for the Warriors.

Sebring (3-0) hosts Southington this afternoon.

Sebring won a junior high game 31-30 over East Liverpool Christian before the varsity game.

Beaver County Christian 37

MIDLAND, Pa.–The East Liverpool boys basketball team rolled over Beaver County Christian 102-37 on Friday at the Midland Tip-Off Tournament.

Tresean Jackson led the Potters (2-0) with 19 points. Cam Beverly added 15 points, while Izaiha Browning had 14 points.

The Potters take on rival Beaver Local today at Potter Fieldhouse. The jv game tips off at 1 p.m.
