Beaver girls fall in overtime

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls basketball team was snake-bitten with a 55-52 loss to John Marshall on Saturday afternoon.

Beaver Local falls to 2-3 and will be at Indian Creek on Thursday.

Jenna Riccardo had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Beavers who were tied at 45 at the end of regulation.

Eli Kolkowski added nine points and 12 boards, while Madison Cline had nine points and seven rebounds.

Beaver Local won the jayvee game, 27-25. Kitty Chen had 11 points for the Beavers, while Olivia Keller added seven points.

ALLIANCE — Kyla Jamison had 19 points to power Salem’s girls basketball team to a 54-37 on Saturday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play at Alliance.

Salem is 4-1. Casey Johnson added five steals for the Quakers.

Salem’s jayvees also won, 36-16. Alanee Davidson-Chuck had 15 points for Salem.

The Quakers host Marlington on Saturday.

BELOIT — Peyton Alazaus hit for 15 points and Carly Scarpitti had 14 more as West Branch rolled Boardman 72-38 on Saturday afternoon.

Alazaus also had nine rebounds for the 2-1 Warriors. Boardman fell to 1-3.

West Branch won the jayvee game 35-30 in three overtimes.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday at Marlington.

CANTON –Coletta Miller fired in 18 points and had six rebounds to lead Minerva to a 38-35 win over Canton South on Saturday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Minerva is 3-2 and 1-0 in the EBC.

Minerva won the jayvee game, 29-27.
