Quakers compete on road

DOYLESTOWN — Kyla Jamison scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Salem fell to Doylestown Chippewa, 51-43, on Friday afternoon.

Despite Jamison’s strong showing, Quakers fourth quarter push wasn’t enough against the 2019 Div. III state semifinalists.

Casey Johnson and Abbie Davidson each had three steals on the defensive end, while Johnson chipped in six points and Davidson five points respectively.

Salem is back in action on Monday at home against United.

Manchester 61, Columbiana 44

CANTON — Akron Manchester knocked off Columbiana 61-44 on Friday in the Clippers’ opener at Walsh University.

The Clippers were led by 24 points and four assists from Kayla Muslovski. Tori Long added nine points, while Grace Witmer had six points. Grace Hammond had five rebounds.

Manchester got 29 points from Karli Anker and 23 points from Rylee Bennett. Manchester is 2-0.

Columbiana hosts Lowellville on Monday.

Western Reserve 86, Thurgood Marshall 13

CANTON–The Western Reserve girls basketball team rolled over Thurgood Marshall 86-13 Saturday at Walsh University.

Dani Vuletich led the Blue Devils with 28 points and 15 rebounds. Alyssa Serensky had a superb all-around game with 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Kennedy Miller dished out 11 assists. Olivia Pater had 10 points, five steals and five assists.

The junior varsity team beat Akron Manchester 35-20.

HOWLAND — Nordonia ganged up on South Range for a 48-22 victory on Friday at Howland High School.

Izzy Lamparty scored eight points for the Raiders who will return to Howland for another game today.

Madison Cluse had 13 points for Nordonia.
