Southern 3, Lowellville 1

COLUMBIANA — Southern has a date with the top-seeded Mineral Ridge Rams.

The Indians knocked off Lowellville 22-25, 26-24, 25-11, 25-15 in the sectional opener on Monday at Columbiana High School.

Southern will meet the Rams at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

For the Indians, Erin Boyle had 14 kills and six points; Maddie Paxson 12 kills, 11 points; Kya McCulley 19 points, six aces; Kyleigh Katchum 19 assists; and Kenzi Infanti six kills.

Springfield 3, Leetonia 0

COLUMBIANA — Springfield made quick work of Leetonia 25-5, 25-10, 25-2 to open the Div. IV sectional volleyball tournament on Monday at Columbiana High School.

Springfield will face the winner of Sebring-Western Reserve on Thursday in the sectional final.

For the Tigers, Carly Stitzel had 24 points, 11 aces and six kills; Lauren Ranelli 14 points, three aces and 23 assists; Lynsey Smith 10 kills; Jennie Stitzel six kills and Carlee Bacon 13 digs.

For the Bears, Megan Rosko had eight digs and Miya Dolan had seven digs.

West Holmes 3, Minerva 2

MINERVA — Minerva was eliminated by West Holmes 25-16, 14-25, 25-23, 26-28, 15-7 on Monday in Div. II East District sectional action.

Ella Kendrick had 13 points, four aces, seven kills, 20 digs and 21 assists for the Lions. Taylor Landsberger had 11 points and 19 digs.

West Holmes is at Dover on Thursday for the sectional final.

West Branch 3, Ravenna 0

BELOIT — West Branch defeated Ravenna 25-8, 25-13, 25-12 on Monday in the Div. II sectional opener at West Branch High School.

Elise Wallace had 17 points, 24 assists and four aces for the Warriors. Sydney Mercer had nine kills. Sammie Tuel had five kills. Jessica Bock had five blocks.

West Branch (17-6) will play the winner of Northwest-Struthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Western Reserve 3, Waterloo 0

BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve wrapped up the regular season by downing Waterloo, 28, 26-, 25-15, 25-19, in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference action Saturday.

The Blue Devils are 15-7 overall and 11-3 in the MVAC.
