Eagles work into the night in Salem

SALEM — United went late into the night to defeat Ursuline on Tuesday in the Div. III sectional volleyball tournament.

The Eagles picked up the 25-23, 25-15, 24-26, 28-26 victory and will play top seed Crestview on Thursday in the sectional final.

For the Eagles, Lauren DelVichio had 20 points, while Brooke Smith had 20 points and four aces. Tori Tschappat had 12 kills and four blocks. Haley Dees had 19 assists. Kyleigh Daggy had 11 kills and 21 digs. Allyssandra Moore had 40 digs.

Columbiana 3,

Campbell 0

SALEM — Columbiana’s volleyball squad dropped Campbell Memorial 25-21, 25-13, 25-6 on Tuesday in a Div. III sectional contest at Salem High School.

The sixth-seeded Clippers advance to meet third-seeded South Range on Saturday night in the sectional final.

For the Clippers, Grace Witmer had eight kills, six assists, 16 points, four aces and seven digs. Maddie Witherow had 15 points, five aces and four kills. Maci Linhart had four kills and 16 digs. Marissa Makosky had eight points and seven assists. Tori Long had nine digs.

Western Reserve 3, Sebring 0

COLUMBIANA–Western Reserve polished off Sebring 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 in a Div. IV sectional opener Tuesday at Columbiana High School.

The fifth-seeded Blue Devils advance to take on fourth-seeded Springfield in a sectional final at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Columbiana High School.

For Western Reserve, Dani Vuletich had 10 kills and three blocks, while Gianna Paris had 10 assists and 12 points. Laura Sigworth added six kills, 10 digs, six assists and five points.

Jackson-Milton 3, St. Thomas Aquinas 1

COLUMBIANA–Jackson-Milton defeated Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-16 in a Div. IV sectional opener Tuesday at Columbiana High School.

Grace McDevitt powered the Bluejays with 25 kills.

Seventh-seeded Jackson-Milton advances to take on second-seeded Wellsville in a sectional final at 10 a.m. Saturday at Columbiana High School.
