Tigers perfect against Crestview

COLUMBIANA — Unbeaten Springfield took care of business Wednesday with a 5-1 victory over Crestview in girls soccer action.

The Tigers are now 10-0 overall. The Rebels drop to 4-5.

Emma Horne scored the lone goal for Crestview in the second half. Taylor Mellington had nine saves in goal.

Gracie Venturella and Kylee Kosek paced the Tigers with two goals apiece. Venturella also added two assists. Kaila LaMorticella also had a goal for Springfield. Caitlin Cappelli had four saves in goal, while Rebecca Catlos had one save.

West Branch 7, Carrollton 0

CARROLLTON–West Branch won a 7-0 blowout over Carrollton in Eastern Buckeye Conference girls soccer action Wednesday.

Bri Blevins, Emma Egli and Jillian Pidgeon powered the Warriors with two goals each. Lexi Biery added one goal and one assists, while Egli, Abie Davis, Ali Heffinger each netted one assist. Sam Plocher, Taylor Slagle and Kamryn Briceland combined for the shutout. Plocher had one save in goal.

West Branch is at Mogadore Field on Saturday.

Marlington 4, Salem 1

SALEM — Marlington scored four goals in the first half to beat Salem, 4-1, in girls soccer action Wednesday night.

Abbie Davidson scored Salem’s goal off an assist by Abby Perry. Sam Moore made four saves in goal.

Salem will play at Hubbard Saturday with the junior varsity match at 5:45 p.m. and the varsity match at 7 p.m.

East Palestine 10, Leetonia 1

LEETONIA — East Palestine plowed over Leetonia 10-1 in soccer action Wednesday.

The Bulldogs improve to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Josh Welch led the charge for the Bulldogs with four goals and an assist, while Blaze Egan added three goals of his own and Brandon Turcola had two goals and three assists.

Also for the Bulldogs, Weston Jones had a goal and an assist. Schaelee Guy, Sean Helpy, Evan Smith and Ryan Rosen had one assist each. Matt Garcia had one save in goal.

Gavin Steiskal had the lone goal for the Bears, while Brayden Yocum had an assist.

East Palestine is at Wellsville Monday.

Oak Glen 5, Wellsville 0

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Lucas Harrison had three goals and one assist as the Oak Glen soccer team beat Wellsville, 5-0, Tuesday.

Jeremy Adams also had one goal and two assists and Kade Koper scored a goal. Stephon Polly and Spencer Wilson also had assists. Jacob Clark made seven saves.

For Wellsville, Levi Boley had 18 saves.

Oak Glen (5-4-3) will host Wheeling Central at 8:30 p.m. today.
