Salem bounces Minerva

SALEM — Hunter Griffith had two goals and Jacob McLachlin hit the back of the net as well as Salem knocked off Minerva 3-2 on Tuesday.

McLachlin also had two assists. Max Kemats had nine saves for the Quakers. Salem will host LaBrae on Monday.

East Liverpool 3, Harrison 1

CADIZ — East Liverpool’s girls soccer team recorded its first win of the season by topping Harrison Central 3-1 on Tuesday.

East Liverpool (1-5) got two goals from Selena Rogers. Allie Kidder added a goal. Assists came from Kenzie McKinnon, Natalie Parker and Kya Cavanaugh.

Alessandra Ferranzzao had nine saves in goal for the Potters.

East Liverpool hosts Columbiana at 6:30 p.m. today at Patterson Field.

Beaver Local 4, Indian Creek 0

CALCUTTA — Danica Taylor had two goals and one assist and Chansyn Hoppel one goal and two assists in Beaver Local’s 4-0 win over Indian Creek in girls soccer action Tuesday.

Riley Britt also scored a goal. Haley Russell made four saves.

The Beavers (5-0-1) will play at Morgantown at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mineral Ridge 2, Heartland 1

MINERAL RIDGE — Heartland Christian scored first but couldn’t hold on in a 2-1 defeat to Mineral Ridge on Tuesday.

Audri Gaydosh and Seth Steward scored for Mineral Ridge.

Mineral Ridge junior center back Isaiah Kelly had to be removed from the field by ambulance due to suffering a neck injury after a collision.

South Range 4, Lakeview 1

CORTLAND — Camden Thomas bagged two goals, while Canaan Johnson and Quinn Pierson had one each as South Range scored a 4-1 win over Lakeview in boys soccer action on Tuesday.

Johnson also had two assists. Logan Weaver had an assist.

Matt Lucas had five saves.

South Range, ranked seventh in the Div. III coaches poll, is 6-0 and 5-0 in the Northeast 8.

South Range hosts unbeaten Howland on Saturday.
