Heartland spikes United; Beaver sweeps Minerva

COLUMBIANA — Heartland’s volleyball team is flying high after a 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 win over United on Saturday.

For Heartland, Makayla Osborn had nine points, eight kills and 14 digs. Lydia Wilson had 23 assists, nine points, five aces and 10 digs. Dara Arthurs had nine points, eight kills and 14 digs. Madison Matthews had nine points, four aces, three kills and nine digs.

For United, Brooke Smith had six kills, five points and two aces. Tori Tschappatt had two aces, five kills and three points. Haley Dees had 16 assists and seven points. Lauren DelVichio had nine assists.

United won the jayvee portion, 25-11, 25-16.

Heartland is at Malvern on Monday. United is 2-5 and is at East Canton on Monday.

Beaver 3, Minerva 0

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s volleyball team made short work of Minerva with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-11 on Saturday.

Karlee Furman had 16 points, two aces, three kills, 10 assists and four digs. Brooke Talbot had 15 points, eight aces, four kills, seven assists and nine digs. Grace Hill had five kills and two blocks. Kodi Kinsey had eight digs. Eli Kolkowski had two blocks and four kills. Cierrah Thurik had 10 digs. Corin Turkovich had nine digs.

For the Lions, Ella Kendrick had three points, two aces and three kills.

Beaver Local won the jayvee match, 25-8, 25-22. Allanah Boyd had 11 points for the Beavers. Brian Wolski had eight points, five aces and four kills. Emma Roberts had eight points, three aces, two kills and four digs. Hannah Kelly had five digs.

The Beavers host Indian Creek on Monday.

Crestview 3, Western Reserve 0

BERLIN CENTER — Crestview moved to 9-0 with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 win over Western Reserve on Saturday.

For the Rebels, Lucy Montgomery had 26 assists, seven digs and eight points. Amelia Montgomery added 11 points and five points. Tess Neville tacked on 10 kills, three aces, three digs and four points. Sidney Rambo had 10 kills. Brenna Auer had six kills, 14 digs and seven points. Shelby Rambo had four kills and four blocks.

Crestview won the jayvee match, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23. The reserve team is also 9-0.

Kendra Greaves had 22 digs and seven points. Hannah Cope had 11 kills, 10 points and eight digs.

Crestview won the freshman match, 17-25, 25-9, 25-20. Bri Campbell had 10 points and 16 assists. Madalyn Black had five points and seven kills. Madi Davis had nine kills.

Oak Glen Invitational

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen won all five matches on Saturday to sweep the Oak Glen Invitational tournament at Oak Glen High School.

The Golden Bears bested Madonna, 25-9, 25-18 to start pool play. For the Bears, Hannah Rogers had 11 kills. Skye Stokes added seven kills and three aces. McKayla Goodlin had seven kills. Jaedyn Hissam had 25 assists.

Oak Glen topped St. John’s 25-6, 25-11. Stokes and Goodlin had six kills each. Stokes added six aces. Jaedyn Hissam had 16 assists.

The Bears bested Tyler Consolidated 25-17, 25-10. Rogers and Stokes had seven kills each, while Rogers had seven aces. Hissam added 13 assists.

In the semifinals, Oak Glen stopped Magnolia 25-9, 25-13. Stoke and Goodlin had seven kills each. Rogers had six kills, while Stokes had 12 aces. Hissam had 18 assists.

Oak Glen defeated Philip Barbour 25-18, 25-15 in the final. Goodlin had eight kills, while Stokes had seven kills. Rogers added five kills. Hissam had 20 assists.

Lisbon jayvee

LISBON — Lisbon’s junior varsity volleyball beat Brookfield, Sebring and Malvern during a junior varsity tournament on Saturday.

The Devils beat Brookfield 25-3, 25-20 (Kelsi Burns had 9 points for Lisbon), Sebring 25-14, 25-14 (Parker Henthorne had 10 points for Lisbon) and Malvern 25-13, 25-22 (Tabby Ketchum had 16 points for Lisbon).
