Salem VB camp set

Damascus VB camp

DAMASCUS — Damascus Friends Church is holding a two-day volleyball camp for girls in grades 5-7 on July 8 and 9.

The goal of this camp is to help prepare girls for junior high tryouts. Cost is $10 and online registration is available at www.dfcnow.com.

The Basketball Tournament

BEXLEY – The Basketball Tournament (TBT) – the $2 million summer basketball event broadcast live on ESPN networks – will be held July 19-21 at The Capital Center on the campus of Capital University.

In its sixth year, this year’s tournament will feature more than 60 players with NBA experience, 23 college alumni teams and elite professionals playing in top leagues all over the world.

Carmen’s Crew, an Ohio State alumni team, will serve as the host of one of eight regionals and welcome seven additional teams that will compete for the chance to advance to the championship week in Chicago. The games, which will take place July 19-21, will be played at The Capital Center at Capital University, located at 2390 East Mound St. in Bexley, Ohio.

Top-seeded Carmen’s Crew, an Ohio State alumni team, is run by Ohio State assistant coach Scoonie Penn and Portland Trail Blazers guard Evan Turner, the roster is comprised of familiar faces like Aaron Craft, Jon Diebler, David Lighty and Evan Ravenel along with newcomers Lenzelle Smith Jr. and DeShaun Thomas.

Also representing the Big Ten as a No. 2 seed is first-year entrant Kohl Blooded, the University of Wisconsin alumni team.

Named after the Kohl Center in which the Badgers play their games, Kohl Blooded’s roster includes 2015 NCAA Tournament runner-up team members Nigel Hayes and Vitto Brown, as well as Jordan Taylor, Ryan Evans, Trevon Hughes and recent graduate Charles Thomas.
