Lisbon’s Oehlstrom put up big numbers

A pair of 20-game winning softball programs were recognized with three All-Ohio selections as made by the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.

Lisbon’s Autumn Oehlstrom was named a Division IV first-teamer in leading her team to a 20-3 record and an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference crown.

West Branch’s Grace Heath and Peyton Alazaus were second-team selections in Division II as the Warriors went 24-4 and won the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

Oehlstrom, a senior outfielder, was dominant in her final season. She batted .605 with 46 hits, 50 RBIs and 11 home runs. That total included 13 doubles and four triples. Her slugging percentage was 1.316 and her on base percentage was .677. On the defensive end, she did not make an error and had 21 putouts and three assists.

For her career, she had 27 home runs and has the school record for highest career batting average at .545.

“As a freshman, she got shortchanged a bit due to an injury,” Lisbon coach Dave Crismon said. “She had six at-bats and had two home runs. I think she was the missing piece that got us to the regional that year and we knew we had something from there on out.”

Crismon said Oehlstrom is set to continue her career in college but that he has not been informed about her decision yet.

“I do know that Eastern Kentucky was after her,” Crismon said. “If she can’t get that I think she’s looking to walk on at Youngstown State.”

Heath, a senior centerfielder, batted .509 with 55 hits, 21 RBIs, 47 runs, five doubles, nine triples and three home runs. She had an .809 slugging percentage. In the field she had 29 putouts and four assists while making no errors.

“Grace plays softball the way it is supposed to be played,” West Branch coach Sis Woods said. “She hustles all the time as well as respecting her teammates, coaches and umpires.”

Heath has the school record for highest career batting average at .516 while playing in the most games (115). She is tied for the most singles in a career (136) with Delaney Rito, a fellow senior this season. Her nine triples this season were also a school record.

Alazaus, a junior infielder, is a three-year starter and led the team in batting average at .533. She had 56 hits, 27 RBIs, 20 doubles (school record), two triples and two home runs. She slugged at a .819 rate and had a .541 on-base percentage. On defense she had a fielding percentage of .987 and had 30 putouts and 46 assists.

“Peyton was our most consistent player offensively and defensively,” Woods said.
