Hoppel’s rodeo as big as ever

WEST POINT — The International Professional Rodeo is back at Hoppel’s Arena on July 5-6. Action begins at 7 p.m. both days.

The rodeo brings 5,000-plus people to the area, according to the arena, and last year’s rodeo broke all the attendance records since it began in 1985.

The rodeo was a vision of Carl Hoppel, who built what is billed as the biggest permanent arena east of the Mississippi. In it’s 34 years of existence, the rodeo is still one of the most popular events in the Tri-State area.

When the Buckeye Rodeo Company comes to town, it brings some of the toughest bulls and broncs in the business.

Hoppel’s Arena is located on the very scenic Beaver Creek and has a natural amphitheater setting with the lawn seating.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $15 for adults and $10 for children. Advanced tickets are available for $10 at Lisbon Dairy Queen, local Giant Eagles, Sparkle and Save A Lot markets, The Pit Stop and Eventbrite.com.
