Range reaches final

STRUTHERS — South Range is showing no signs of being knocked off its perch.

The defending Div. III state champs knocked off Ursuline 7-1 on Monday night in a Div. III district semifinal at Cene Park.

The top-seeded Raiders advance to meet No. 2 seed Canton Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Cene Park. Central Catholic knocked off third seed Rootstown 4-0 in the other district semifinal. The winner of that district final will head to the Massillon regional to face the winner of the Niles district.

Despite being the defending state champions, the Raiders (24-5) are ranked 13th in the latest Div. III state coaches poll.

Raider ace Jake Gehring struck 11 Irish batters, while Brandon Mikos drove in three runs.

In other action on Monday at Cene Park, Poland knocked off Niles 8-7 and Canfield stopped Alliance 8-3 in Div. II district semifinals.

Today, Lisbon will meet Warren JFK and Springfield will meet McDonald at 5 p.m. in Div. IV district semifinals at Cene Park.
