LISBON — Justin Sweeney tossed a shutout and went 3-for-4 at the plate as Lisbon bumped off Leetonia 10-0 in five innings in a Div. IV sectional opener on Tuesday.

Lisbon (11-13-1) will travel to Lowellville for the sectional final on Thursday.

Nick Mundy added two hits and an RBI. Logan Bell had a double and an RBI. The double was Bell’s 15th of the season, a school record.

Sweeney is 4-5 on the season on the mound.

East Palestine 9, Western Reserve 6

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine used two big innings to knock off Western Reserve 9-6 in Div. III sectional action on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (16-7-1) scored four timd in the second and fourth innings to distance themselves from the Devils.

East Palestine will play at defending Div. III state champion South Range today in the sectional final.

Cooper Vance and Dalton Vance had two hits each for the winners, while Cameron Wischerman had a double and two RBIs.

Cody Wise had three hits for Reserve.

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local banged out 11 hits in a 12-2 win over Sebring in five innings on Tuesday in a Div. IV sectional opener.

Caleb Glover had a single, double and three RBIs for the Indians. Conner Lewis added a single, double and two RBIs. Brock Smalley had a single, double and two RBIs.

Southern (13-9) will be at McDonald on Thursday for a sectional final.

Sebring is 1-12.

WELLSVILLE — Heartland sophomore Caleb Graft tossed three-hitter and had a career-high 13 strikeouts as Heartland Christian collected its first tournament victory with a 4-0 win over Wellsville in a Division IV sectional opener Tuesday.

The Lions scored all four of their runs in the fourth innings — on an RBI bunt single by Joel Morgan and run-scoring singles by Hayden Stewart, Zach Labon and Caleb Graft.

Eight Heartland players had hits, led by Labon with two two singles.

The Lions improve to 8-10 and will play at top-seeded Springfield Local at 5 p.m. Thursday.

COLUMBIANA — Crestview scored 10 times in the first inning and cruised to a 15-2 win over Waterloo in a Div. III baseball sectional opener on Tuesday.

The Rebels posted 10 hits in the win and will travel to Rootstown for the sectional final at 5 p.m. today.

For the Rebels, Carter Blakeman had two hits and an RBI; Devin Turney a triple and three RBIs; James Fitzgerald a hit and two RBIs; Chuck Lindsay two hits and an RBI; Dale McGoogan a hit and two RBIs and Tyler Hurd a hit and two RBIs.

BYESVILLE — Meadowbrook ended East Liverpool’s season with a 10-0 win in five innings in a Div. II sectional contest on Tuesday.

East Liverpool finishes 1-26. Cory Weyand had two hits for the Potters.

West Branch 18, Youngstown East 0

BELOIT — West Branch’s baseball team secured an 18-0 win over Youngstown East in five innings in a Div. II sectional opener on Tuesday.

West Branch will travel to Alliance for the sectional final today.

Cole Bates had three hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Tristan Ballard had two hits and two RBIs.

West Branch’s three pitchers did not allow a hit. The Warriors are 17-11.
