Late pins lift Clippers to Buck Bailey title

WELLSVILLE — Columbiana produced two champions and two runners-up to win the Buck Bailey Wrestling Tournament on Saturday at Wellsville High School.

The tournament, which featured many area Division III schools and reserve team wrestlers from some Division II schools, was won by a one-point margin as the Clippers prevailed 138 1/2-137 1/2 over second-place Salem.

Winning for the Clippers was Nate Whitehead (195 pounds) and Josh Stillson (285). Both recorded pins with Stillson’s coming in the last match to lift the Clippers to the team title.

Beaver Local’s Devon Salsberry, the 145-pound champ, was the tournament Most Valuable Wrestler.

Salem’s Tony Seddon (106), Caiden Hart (113) and Jax Booth (138) led the Quakers with wins in their respective weight classes.

Crestview, the two-time defending champion, did not participate this season.

Southern Local finished third with Chance Wooley (120) and Dylan Milhoan (152) winning their weight classes.
