Columbiana will induct six

COLUMBIANA — The 23rd annual Columbiana High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct six new members on Jan. 12.

Inductees include Rich Clark (Class of 1987), Tucker Cope II (1964), Derek Garrod (2002), Ian Schmidt (2001), John Kelton (contributor) and Donald Groubert (coach).

The induction banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 at Columbiana High School. Tickets are $25 per person, $12 for ages 6-10 and free for 5 and under. Reservations are due by Dec. 31. Junior high wrestlers place

RAYLAND–Three area junior high wrestlers earned victories in the Buckeye Local Winter Classic Saturday.

East Liverpool’s Eric Williams took home first place in the 116-pound division with a 5-0 victory over Bridge Street’s Bradyn Lucas.

Southern’s Wyatt Morris won the 160-pound title with a 9-1 major decision over Bellaire’s Talon Hughes.

Josh Blake from Oak Glen won the 245-pound title by pinning Logan Frye from St. Clairsville at the 0:23 second mark.
