A holiday bonanza of hoops

COLUMBIANA–The Crestview boys basketball team felt right at home in the Crestview Holiday Classic, as the Rebels defeated Heartland Christian 67-50 Friday.

The Rebels improve to 1-5 overall. Heartland falls to 1-6.

Crestview also won the jayvee game 62-37.

In the other varsity game Friday, Western Reserve defeated Leetonia 55-44.

Western Reserve moves to 1-6 overall. The Bears fall to 0-8.

Riley Miller led the Blue Devils with 14 points. Todd Henning added 13 points.

Quentin Craik led the Bears with 14 points.

Western Reserve will play Crestview in the championship game today, while Leetonia faces Heartland Christian in the consolation game.

FARRELL, Pa.–The South Range basketball team downed Rockey River 51-35 in the Farrell Holiday Tournament Friday.

Chris Brooks led South Range with 17 points. Ben Irons added 11 points.

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. –Behind a career high 33 points from Parker Hydrick, the United boys basketball team defeated Community Christian (FL) 82-78 in double overtime Friday during a holiday basketball showcase at Lemon Bay High School.

Hydrick nailed a three-pointer to send the game to double overtime.

Alex Birtalan added 16 points.

NORTH JACKSON — Mogadore sank 14 threes in defeating Columbiana 80-65 on Friday at the Jackson-Milton Holiday Tournament.

Columbiana falls to 4-5 and is at Leetonia on Jan. 4.

Ryan Fahs led the Clippers with 14 points and five rebounds.

Matt Mazei had 10 points and 15 rebounds. Hunter Zentner and Erik Hopfenziz had 12 points each.

Kyle Coffman had 24 points for Mogadore, while Lucas Schwartz had 22 points.

Columbiana won the jayvee game, 57-43. Dalton Whitehair had 24 points for the Clippers.

MINERVA — Minerva edged Canton South 56-55 in double overtime on Friday in an Eastern Buckeye Conference affiar.

Minerva improves to 2-5 and 2-2 in the league, while Canton South falls to 3-2, 2-1.

Brice Williams had 16 points for the Lions, while Reece Catlett added 11 points.

Canton South won the jayvee portion, 52-32.
