Warrior streak snapped

CANFIELD — It had to end sometime.

Canfield got 14 points each from Serena Sammarone and Gianna Flask as the Cardinals ended West Branch’s 41-game regular season winning streak with a 54-49 victory on Wednesday in girls basketball action.

Wesst Branch led by four at the half and five after three quarters before the Cardinals outscored the Warriors by 10 in the final frame.

Peyton Alazaus led the Warriors with 24 points. Carly Scarpitti had six points and nine rebounds.

West Branch is 1-1 and hosts Marlington on Saturday.

The Warriors won the jayvee game, 44-34.

MINERVA — Minerva’s Addie Rhodes had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead her Lions to a 39-36 win over Fairless on Wednesday night.
