Rebels off to a strong start

HANOVERTON — Tanner Hoffer had 22 points and 14 rebounds as Crestview handed United a 56-23 loss on Thursday.

Krista Perry had 13 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. Haley Eskra had six points and four steals.

Crestview is 2-0.

Kyleigh Daggy scored eight points for the Eagles, 1-1.

Crestview hosts Girard on Monday.

United is at Lisbon Monday.

NILES–The Salem girls basketball team picked up a 57-28 win over Niles Thursday.

Kyla Jamison led the way for the Quakers with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Echo Mayer-Kutz contributed nine points while Ellie Davidson and Casey Johnson added six points. Ellie Davidson and Jaden Hamilton each pulled down seven rebounds.

The Quakers won the rebounding battle 37-17 and grabbed 16 offensive boards.

Salem won the jv game 57-9.

Abby Perry led the Quakers with 16 points and seven steals. Jenna McClish added nine points.

Salem opens up Eastern Buckeye Conference play Saturday at Canton South.

EAST PALESTINE–The East Palestine girls basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 49-31 win over East Liverpool Thursday.

Joclyn Fristik scored 18 points for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Potters 20-7 in the closing frame.

Also for East Palestine, Jaliyah Mixon scored eight points, while Sara Buskirk had six points and six rebounds. Paige Snyder propelled the defense with eight steals.

Alessandra Ferrazzano and Emma Ludwig each scored eight points for the Potters.

East Palestine won the jv game 40-32. Morgan Rutledge led the Bulldogs with 13 points.

Dani Vuletich led the Blue Devils with 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Kennedy Miller canned five threes as part of her 17 points. She also dished out a team-high nine assists. Maddy Owen added eight points for Western Reserve, while Laura Sigworth had six points and three assists.
