Ludwig hits for 21 in victory

EAST LIVERPOOL–The East Liverpool girls basketball team edged Southern 49-44 in season-opening action Tuesday.

Emma Ludwig led the Potters with 21 points. Alessandra Ferrazzano added 11 points.

Riley Felton led the Indians with 17 points.

McDonald 65, Columbiana 57 OT

MCDONALD — McDonald outscored Columbiana by eight in overtime to knock off the Clippers 65-57 on Tuesday in girls basketball action.

Tessa Liggett and Kayla Muslovski had 17 points each for the Clippers who made their debut under new coach Dave Crismon. Liggett also had seven boards.

Grace Hammond added 11 points for the Clippers.

Molly Howard scored 18 to lead the winners.

McDonald won the jayvee portion, 23-21. Leah Gabreltik and Emily Floyd had five points each for the Blue Devils.

WELLSVILLE–The Crestview girls basketball team opened the season with a 66-22 win over Wellsville Tuesday.

Krista Perry led the Rebels with 21 points, five rebounds and four steals. Tanner Hoffer added nine points and 10 rebounds. Mara Halas chipped in nine points. Payton Huff finished with eight points, four assists and four steals.

Hunter Weekley led the Tigers with nine points and six rebounds. Cameron Carlevale grabbed 12 rebounds.

Crestview won the jv game 64-8. Ashton Hughes led the Rebels with 15 points. Sophia Carr added 14 points.

Crestview is at United Thursday. Wellsville is at Conotton Valley Saturday.
