Quakers hold the line again

SALEM — There hasn’t been a ball in the back of the Salem girls soccer team’s net yet this season.

The Quakers now sit at 320 minutes without giving up a goal following a 7-0 win over Columbiana on Monday night at Reilly Stadium.

The Quakers (4-0) were led offensively by Paige Bailey and Lydia McKee’s hat tricks. Abby Perry also scored for the winners.

Haley Gaither, Paige Bailey and Ellie Davidson handed out assists for the Quakers.

Salem’s jayvee team was a 6-0 winner over Ravenna on Monday. Hannah Kelm lead the reserves with two goals while Alyssa Bricker, Clara Double, Abby Perry and Skyler Green had one goal each.

Salem hosts Carrollton on Wednesday.

Columbiana 7,

Heartland 3

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s boys soccer team knocked off Heartland 7-3 on Monday.

Hunter Oliver had two goals and two assists for the Clippers. Gabe Heinrich and Collin Schick each had two goals and an assist for the winners. Michael Ginocchi had a goal, while Noah Horne and Travis Cross had an assist each. Clipper goalie Chris Costanzo had 12 saves.

Hayden Stewart had two goals for Heartland. Micah Direnzo had the other goal. Sebastian Sharo had an assist. Theo Pethel had 11 saves.

Brooke 2, Beaver 0

WELLSBURG — Josh Ferguson led the Brooke boys soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Beaver Local on Monday.

Ferguson tallied the game’s lone goals, while Nick Cruny assisted twice. Matt Reed made five saves in goal, and Garrett Bernadini had six.

For Beaver Local (1-1), Austin McCoy made eight saves in goal.

The Bruins (3-1) host John Marshall on Thursday.

East Liverpool 7, John Marshall 0

GLEN DALE, W.Va. — East Liverpool’s boys soccer team came away with a 7-0 win over John Marshall on Monday.

Ayden Payne and Izaiah Browning had hat tricks to lead the 2-0 Potters. Payne and Browning also had assists.

Brennan O’Hara had a goal and an assist, while Jacob Myers and Cole Dailey had single assist tallies.

Alex Pelley had eight saves in goal for the Potters who are at Indian Creek on Thursday.

West Branch 3, Howland 3

BELOIT — West Branch’s girls soccer team drew Howland 3-3 on Monday.

Lexi Biery had two goals, while Gillian Koneval added a goal for the Warriors, 3-0-1. Addy Jones had an assist.

West Branch tied the jayvee game 1-1. Danielle Koneval scored for Branch.

United 14, East Palestine 1

EAST PALESTINE — United Local defeated East Palestine 14-1 Monday night in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Leading the Eagles was Zach Jewell with four goals. Kade Blake and Kameron Seaman each tallied a hat trick each. Jaret Hahn, Daniel Bloom, Ethan McDevitt and Dustin Hull each scored once. Tallying assists for the Eagles were Luke Medure with two and Jaret Hahn, Anthony Phillips, Ethan McDevitt, Kade Blake and Dustin Hull each with one. Parker Wisser scored the lone goal for East Palestine on an assist from Brady Kridler. Noah Brieck recorded two saves in goal for the Eagles while Matt Garcia recorded 11 for the Bulldogs.

United improves to 1-1-1 (1-0 EOAC) while East Palestine drops to 2-2 (2-1 EOAC). United Local travels to Wellsville on Wednesday.

East Palestine is at Heartland on Sept. 6.
