Salem boys take NBC away from Louisville

SEBRING — The final Northeastern Buckeye Conference Cross Country Meet was the best one for the Salem boys.

The Quakers captured their first league title by ending Louisville’s 11-year run Saturday at Copeland Oaks.

Salem had five of the top 17 finishers to top the field with 46 points. Louisville was second with 61 and Minerva third with 88.

Alliance senior Dylan Bailey won the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 51.0 seconds. He finished seven seconds ahead of Louisville sophomore Miklos Hendricks.

Salem sophomores Hunter Christopher and Cameron Christopher were third and fourth, respectively. Also for the Quakers, junior Trey Double was eighth, junior Jackson Corbisello 14th and freshman Grant Menough 17th.

The girls field was loaded as Louisville repeated with 50 points, beating out Minerva by two points. Salem was third with 68.

Louisville junior Morgan Cole won the girls race in 19:26.3. Minerva senior Mackenzie Scott was second, while junior teammate Nelle Yankovich was sixth.

Freshman Carly Hall topped the Salem girls by placing seven. Junior Haley Rozeski followed in ninth and freshman Halle Cochran in 11th.
