County’s generosity is bountiful again this year

Morning Journal News

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving in Columbiana County and the surrounding area we realize there is much to be thankful for again this year. When counting our blessings we must not forget to include the generous folks who make sure the less fortunate among us are able to have a bountiful holiday meal.

Community Thanksgiving dinners seem to be beginning a little early this year, with one being held today from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the River of Life Church of God in East Liverpool.

On Saturday, the Good Shepherd Thanksgiving Feast at St. Stephen's Church in East Liverpool will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Trinity Presbyterian Parish in Newell will serve a meal from 4 to 6 p.m.

The feasting continues in East Liverpool on Monday, when the Community Resource Center holds a dinner at noon followed by the East Liverpool Salvation Army serving from 1 to 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, the annual community Thanksgiving dinner will be served at 1 p.m. at the Way Station in Columbiana. Reservations can be made by calling 330-482-5072. The East Liverpool Senior Center will also host a meal from noon to 3 p.m. that day.

On Thursday, the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima will serve a Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations are needed and can be made by calling 330-549-2588.

A the annual community Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Memorial Building. No reservations are required to dine in, but for home delivery or transportation call, 330-337-3728.

And the Points of Light at 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. in East Liverpool will serve its traditional Thanksgiving dinner from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday.

If you're alone this holiday, why not consider joining one of these community celebrations. And, if you're fortunate enough to be spending the day with family and friends and someone else is doing the cooking, consider helping out at one of these worthwhile endeavors either before or after your private celebration. The help will surely be welcomed and you'll be glad you lent a hand.
