EAST LIVERPOOL - Only seven of 12 candidates who expressed an interest in the Thompson Park superintendent's job sat for a competitive civil service exam Wednesday night, with results expected later this week.
Commission members logged in the seven candidates and gave them 2.5 hours in which to complete the 50-question test, with member John Fisher reminding them that passing the test gave them the right to an interview with the park board and they should show up with a well-honed resume and "dressed to the nines."
They were advised by secretary Jane Miller that results should arrive in the mail by Friday.
The park board has indicated it hopes to have a new superintendent named by its March meeting.
At its regular meeting prior to the test, the commission welcomed new member David Bickerton, who was appointed by Mayor Jim Swoger to replace outgoing member Steve Bell.
Marissa Galeoti was re-elected president for 2013.
Approved was a request by Service-Safety Director Ryan Estell to extend the police chief eligibility list, and the board also agreed to extend the entry level firefighter certification. Both were extended for one year.
